we;re thinking of buying a dickonsia antarctica tree fern , What is the best way to care for it this yr? Do we plant it out at 1m high or keep it in a pot for the 1st yr or 2? What soil is best?

Likes a shadier, sheltered spot, either in the ground or in a large enough pot - one advantage in a pot is you can move it to shelter if we have another severe winter. Left outside all winter, they need protection by fleecing and padding out the crown.
