Um could you be a little bit clearer please... why are you wanting to stop the leaves growing?

Are they weeds? What sort?

tree stump? houseplant? ivy on the wall? weeds coming up? Need to know where, why and what kind of plant you mean.

I just found your earlier question about stopping a bush growing, so presumably this is just another version of that. If you don't know what the 'bush' is, post a photograph, but if its fairly small and you don't want it, dig it out.
