I have a plant called Ragged Robin in garden (dont know proper name). It flowers well with delicate pink flowers, but has an untidy centre to the plant as if a cat has been sleeping on it. Is that its nature or can i get it to throw up flower stems from its centre?

If you mean Lychnis flos-cuculi (google to make sure) this should be, or can be, cut right back after flowering - that usually takes care of this problem.
