I have a hybicus that I brought in last fall. It recently began to bud and they all fell off before they bloomed. What happened?

That is frequently a sign that it is either being overwatered, or it is getting too little water, too often. In pots, it may be a sign of irregular watering, too. I'm assuming that this is a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. With other species, it is almost always simple lack of water.
