Specific lawn moss/weed killer applied properly will not kill the grass as its for broad leafed plants/weeds and moss most of them you apply 3-5 days after mowing and then about after ( check instructions) you rake out the dead moss and mow at least weekly. Also feed your lawn in spring and then again about 6 weeks later. There is a new product for patchy lawns or you can just reseed these areas. I find where I have had moss I dont need to reseed after killing and raking it out the grass takes over.
