i purchased this plant as a Philadelphus last summer. it is coming into flower but the flowers look wrong. the picture on the label and in my gardening books are larger single flowers and not this "elderflower" type head. Any advice please?

Certainly ain't a Philadelphus, more like a Viburnum.

Might be viburnum betulifolium. You are right ; its not philadelphus

Certainly not philadelphus. I agree it is a viburnum . Not sure which.

I think it's Viburnum rhytidophyllum.

Nicer than a Philadelphus in my opinion. But then we do have 25 Viburnums in the garden.
