We just got a Lacianiata cutleaf weeping birch- my questions do these trees produce large roots. my concern in planting too close to foundation

We had a birch - admittedly not that variety, that had to go as it got into drains. A rule sometimes recommended is to plant no nearer the house than the eventual height of the tree. And avoid the drains!
