No you dont need to as usually the fence line follows the slope. The fence posts are put in to the same depth and the fence between slopes down. Whatever the slope you can usually only put a 6ft fence up in a back garden. If its a very slight slope you could use gravel boards below the fence panels to adjust the level to straight.
