there are lots of plants to chose from. other things to consider is the type of soil [acid, neutral or alkaline] soil depth and how wide the border is.
There are lots of pictures on this site. scroll down and lick on B and there should be a section on borders.
or walk around a garden centre and look at the plants and their lables to see if they are suitable.
