large plant for porch

i need a large plant for an outside porch with no heating and protected from the sun . any ideas

Acers like part shade but do not like areas where it can be windy. Will the plant get any sunlight at all Debrac?

Is it an enclosed porch with a door which gets opened frequently?

I'm novice, so this may be incorrect and I welcome anybody to provide better advice. :) Maybe a potted acer would do well. I believe they are shade tolerant.
