sieboldii clematis

I have had aSidboldii for about 5 years which has always flowered beautifully, but this year as we as the normal flowers (which seemed a little smaller than usual) it produced plain purple ones, and then a couple of all white ones. Is this normal?

It is not unusal for this plant to have flowers out of the normal - it is an unstable plant. Mine produced one 'different' one this year on a plant that has been growing and flowering normally for seven years. Hopefully normal service will be resumed next year
