I treated myself to some potato planters at the weekend, you know they sack type ones.
I have no idea what variety of seed potatos to get!!! I'd like a good all rounder - boil, mash, roast type spud that'll store well in the shed once they're dug up. Can anyone suggest a variety to look out for?
Also, how many do you reckon I could put in each bag?

Many thanks!

Desiree potatoes would match your requirements quite well, Donnaj. They are an early maincrop but keep very well. It is normal to put three or four into a bag.

Have a look at this site because it gives a full description of many varieties.
