how to treat conifers going brown and dry inside the tree

Answers

There is no way to stop the inner twigs and leaves from going brown. They do so because they are denied light by the density of the outer foliage. That's the other reason why most conifers cannot be cut too hard, because the cutting exposes the inner stems which have died (the first reason being that most conifers don't regenerate from older wood).
