Wondering if anyone can recommend where I could buy some alstroemeria plants please. Used to have some in my old garden and would love some for my new one. Hanks.

I would say that early in the season, perhaps buy online from an Alstroemeria specialist. These will be smaller plants which would come in 9cm pots for you to grow-on. Later in the season, buy only from a garden centre where you can see the quality of the plants. I think you might have to wait until next year now.

Thank you both, I will take a look at that site owdboggy.
Jimmy I realise it’s the wrong time of year, but thank you for your advice. I bought some many years ago, from a specialist, but cannot remember the name. Have a feeling it was somewhere in Essex.

Problem with Garden Centres is that they rarely stock any Alstromerias, or if they do it is usually the A. psittacina or A. ligtu hybrids, both rather boring.

O dear. I have looked online, but most are out of stock at this time, so I shall wait till the right time to plant, but thanks anyway for your help Owdboggy.

After some research I would say avoid this company like the plague.

You could try Hayloft. But again they are a bit hit and miss with the quality.

Thanks meadowland, I don’t come on here much these days, so don’t have her on my list , but where I am living now it’s a very big garden that I’m trying to put a few perennials in, so we have some colour come up every year without too much effort on my part ! I thought they would be a good idea and useful for cutting as well.

Thank you Meadowland , for your kind thoughts.

I read the other day (I forget where!) that it is an orange coloured one that rampages through the borders and becomes a nuisance, but other colours tend to behave themselves. They suggested growing the orange ones in containers if you like them.

Never had dealings with them so no idea if they are any good or not, but they do have a lot of choices.
