Could you plant two Clematis say 4ft apart one spring flowering which is growing well now and one summer flowering so they intermingle.

I don't see why not, but would leave a bit more than 4 feet between them.

Yes that is fine. I have summer and late winter early spring intermingling with a rose. all 3 are in a bed about 8ft long. just be mindful of watering if there is a dry spell.

Is your intention to have both plants intertwine with each other? If so, you could plant both closer than 4 ft. Sounds like a super idea.
