Hi everyone. I hope you’re looking forward to the garden waking up although we might have a wait a little longer and endure the ‘beast from the east’ first! I’ asking about garden trees in flower at the moment. I have passed several pink dainty flowering trees and wondered if anyone could recommend a smallish garden tree which has early spring blossom? Thank you.

the ones now are either an early flowering Cherry or one of the Viburnums 'Bodnant' I think is one of them.

Vibrnum x bodnantense Dawn is a really good pink scented shrub./small tree and easily available.

I have Vibrnum x bodnantense Charles Lamont but my only critiscism is that it flowers so early (even in December) that it takes a real pasting from the continuous frosts.

There is a third one called V.b.Deben which is paler, almost white.

Have a look at the attributes of the Amelanchier. Trees or shrubs they respond to pruning so should do well in most situations.
