I have scarified our lawn and want to know how I top dress it and seed it to prepare for next years dry summer

Its best to leave your lawn now its been scarified as the moss removed will allow the grass to thicken up. I would think of seeding any patches next year that haven't been re 'colonised' by the grass.
You can now apply an autumn feed, liquid mix or granular which will need to be watered in after application. Although read the pack and see if it applies, most do and its best to anyway,
