I have an 8 year old Ceanothus Repentus. About 4 years ago i put into a pot and it was flourishing well until last year. It seems to have died off as all the leaves are brown and i don't see any new growth. I have very little space to plant it in the garden but could find a spot if anybody thinks it's worth it. Looking forward to a postive reply!

Hi, all I can suggest you do is scrape back a little of the back and if it is green underneath then it is alive. If it is brown then that area is dead. keep repeating from the tips down towards the base. if there are any green bits then prune back to those areas. keep it watered well.
if there are only brown bits then sadly you have lost it.
I found mine only lived for about 10 years.

Seaburngirl - it was completely dried inside so unfortunately had to ditch it. It's like losing a child leaving home! Enjoy the good weather. It's going to be 23 degress here Brussels.

If its any comfort, Ceanothus are not long lived shrubs - they usually live between 8 and 12 years, sometimes a bit more. In a pot, likely the lower end of the life expectancy.

Sorry it has died but I am not surprised as they are relatively short lived. if you get another one take cuttings so you have a spare.

been pleasantly warm here in East Yorks too, not as warm as you but good enough to sit out.
