Can anybody identify this tree. It was bought in memory of my husband who died last January.

No it is still in it’s tub that it was delivered in. It is very upright and about five foot tall. It arrived with no name on it. I am waiting for my gardener to come to look at it.
I don’t think it is a magnolia.
I have just done a little mor research and wonder if it’s A Japanese Loquat tree Bronze Which I’ve never heard of.

does the person who bought it know what it is? failing that if they tell you the name of the supplier you may find out from them. What size pot is it in?

May God give you comfort, Marjorie!
It is indeed a Magnolia grandiflora, probably the dwarf variety 'Little Gem', if I am reading the scale of the leaves correctly. It might be 'St. Mary's', which is also dwarf, but with larger leaves. Straight up M.g. normally has paler undersides to the leaves.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
I have contacted the company that supplied it and they very quickly e mailed me back.
It is Magnolia Grandiflora. The leaves will be green all year round, it will have large white flowers in Springtime.
Mystery solved , I will forward to sending a photo in the Spring Time.
By the way the company is called Mail Order Trees,Fordham,Ely

Fair warning: if it is a seedling, instead of a grafted, named variety, it can take 10-20 years to bloom.

I hope not I will be long time gone then.
My gardener has just planted it for me.
I will post a photo later.
Thanks again for your response.😦🤗

They have beautiful creamy white flowers like dinner plates Marjories and when I worked at a big hotel and golf course, the gardeners hacked one back and everyone was worried it would take years to flower but it bounced back within a couple of years and flowered again. Lovely tree.

That’s a lovely thought in memory of your husband. You have my sympathy, and I do hope you will see blossom in the Spring to make you smile.
