Further to my question re pruning my wisteria, I have pruned it as you say but the stems are now really thick and I don't know whether to just cut it back and risk loosing next year's flowers.

It will make a lot of new growth between now and Feb; when you prune again! I would advise against cutting right back.

I agree. Try and tie in as much growth as possible as the older stems (1 year) produce the shoots that flower. Go back no more than this or at least leave most older stems on and only selectively prune out any stems you don't want.

How do I say thanks?
