was it sold as a house plant?
if it is a clematis it is the best red I've seen. I don't think is is going by the swelling behind the flowers, top 2 buds/flowers in the left of the photo with the chair in the back ground.
the growth habit suggests it is a twiner/climber not a clinger.

It looks like my black-eyed Suzie (Thunbergia) but the red version which my neighbour has.

Thanks all.yes.i remember seeing the name on another one,knew it began with a T.
So pleased to know so I can take proper care of it.putting it on a wall with trellis.:)

Judging by the leaves, its a Clematis of some variety and might well need something to scramble up - I can't see the flowers clearly to try to identify the variety (number of petals, colour stamens and so on). Didn't it have a label when you bought it?
