Hi there all,
does anybody know whether its ok to compost the Oak apples (Galls) from a huge oak tree at the border of my garden? i have only just learnt that it is an insect grub encased!! or am i spreading a problem further?

Perhaps, try to crush them underfoot on something hard so they break down easier.

Oak gall wasps do no harm to the tree so you've no need to worry.

Oaks have been getting Oak apples for the last million years (give or take a few 1,000) so composting them is not going to have much effect. By the time the galls fall the insects have hatched out in most cases or are dead.
