When & how should I split my Asters? I have two bushes that are at least 3 feet around.

Lift the rootballs in early spring and either put two garden forks back to back into the centre of the clump and push together to force them apart or simply chop through with a spade. Always ere towards using the outer edge of clumps as these tend to have the strongest shoots.
