What exactly did you repot it into (planting medium that is)? Rain wouldn't harm whatsoever.

Also, are their drainage holes in the pot?

thanks for your reply, i potted it into a large plastic container from a small black pot the center had it in as the roots were coming through it. Yes the pot has holes in the bottom and i put water retaining compost in. Since initially writing the leaves are still brown at the top, some going yellow but have found 3 new shoots growing quite rapidly which wasn't what i expected this time of year having become quite cool.
