Virginia stocks were the first seeds I ever planted in my 18" square little garden when I was not much more than a toddler. Loved them - thanks for the memory!

Marigolds - Everybody gets the orange ones, so try the yellow ones - Lemon Drops. I have them sprouting in cups on my kitchen window sill to be planted out next month. They bloom nonstop and prefer the sunnier location for continuous blooms all summer. Pair them up with something blue for a stunning affect - like salvias.

Quick and easy are Californian Poppies (Eschscholzia California) - sunny colours, e.g. yellows, oranges and pinks; also Corncockles (Agrostemma) white and pinky-mauve. Last year I grew Calendula 'snow princess' - lovely cream, and they flowered all summer. Good luck!

I love nigella [love in a mist] scatter and leave to germinate where you want them to grow. 10 week stocks, cosmos, dahlia, Chinese aster godetia and clarkia are all annuals I regularly grow. I always have nigella though as I leave the pretty seed heads on and they self seed. I regularly sow Virginia stock at 4 week intervals in the front of shrubs as they are only6-10 inches high.
