I have been given the plant in the picture but we do not know what it is. It is highly perfumed and I guess it’s a mahonia but not sure. Any suggestions?

Of course, I should have recognised it! The perfume threw me. Thanks Bamboo!
It’s good to be back!

More likely a Pieris japonica variety, the lily of the valley shrub - has fragrant flowers in spring. Keep it a bit protected till the weather warms up, those flowers are a little early - if you've had it indoors, you'll need to harden it off ready for planting or potting up outdoors.
