welcome to Goy :o)

plants have their own specific water demands depending on what they are. If you know the name of the plant then you can look up good advice using the RHS website. There may be an Australian version but the info is good.
When the leaves start to wilt is a real sign they need water but hopefully the plants in the ground will have 'ground water' to draw on.

seedlings if an a greenhouse need to have the soil kept just damp. too wet and they will get fungal infections and die. the surface may look dry but still damp 1/2" below the surface.

as for the dragon breath it is an upright, bushy annual, quick growing and undemanding, with the colour often improving under challenging hot, dry conditions. So water when the leaves look to be wilting. It is a Celosia species.

I'm in the uk so not sure what you weather conditions are like. I hope this helps.

You don't say whether you mean plants in pots or in the ground - plants in pots will need watering regularly.

Here in the desert southwest of the United States, summer watering of containers runs from twice a day, for flowers, to twice a month, for cacti. For plants in the ground, twice a week to twice a summer. Celosia 'Dragon's Breath' comes under the category "flowers". You may need to water lesss often in New South Wales, depending on temps and humidity.

Looking at the map, Krysty, New South Wales is a big place!
If you live near the coast, Violas will be dead easy, and plants will need water 1/3 to 1/2 as often as I do.
If you live in the outback, perennial Violas will need bright or filtered shade, and enriched soil, and you will probably have to follow a watering schedule similar to mine--look for natives, to save water!

Hi there if any of you are having problems with snails in your garden on your plants he's tip to get rid crush up some egg shell in your hands and just sprinkler around the bottom of your plant the snails don't like it because of the sharp edges hope it helps you out?
