If your ground is neutral you shouldn't normally need it much as a regular thing.
Ground limestone is calcium carbonate so contains only calcium and carbon, bound with oxygen so doesn't contain any other plant nutrients. It is very alkaline. Its wise to measure your soil's pH (its acidity or alkalinity) and if its higher than 6.5 you don't need to add it at all as it will be bad for acid loving plants.
