Can tanalise preservatives in wood contaminate soil?

Devon, United Kingdom

I have a Rhodo.yakushimanum in a wooden container. Could the tanalise preservative in the wood contaminate the soil and poison the shrub?

Hopefully not, i have used plenty of treated tubs in the past. But if you want to treat a wooden container use one of the water-based/boron treatments, they are much less toxic! (tho will probably not last as long) or line the tub with plastic (with holes for drainage) to avoid contact with the preservative.

How do I say thanks?
