when my foxgloves have flowered ,,,,, do i cut them back before winter ?

Cut the flowering stem out but left the leaves die back naturally.

I thought foxgloves are biennial, so what is the point in keeping the leaves, once they have flowered the plant dies anyway. I am only asking as I was about to pull all of mine out, if there is any benefit in keeping the leaves to die back.

In theory they are biennial but many of them seem to grow and flower again the following year.

How do I say thanks?
