I brought a variety of cones, which i picked up, from n. Italy 2 months ago, and planted in pots. This has grown to 10"/16cm, has had 3 lilac tubular flowers and now has what looks like a spiky seed pod on it. I would like to know what it is and more importantly will it survive our winters and what is the eventual height and spread please.

I think it's a Datura. Have a look at this -

The seed pod sounds like it's a "thorn apple"
I don't think it would survive a winter outdoors in the UK.
