Very odd......

Well, Priyanshu, of your list, only pea and mango have botanical names, since they are the only plants. The more general term used in the U.S. is "scientific name", which applies to both plants and animals--and those odd life-forms in between! :)
Also, in your list, mango, human, and silk worm each have their own scientific name, since the English words each denote one species, while pea and frog will bring up many different names each, because each is a general term for many different species. I.e., are you looking for the names for garden peas, sweet peas, chick peas, black-eyed peas, etc.? Frog names are even more numerous, since there are thousands of different species, world wide.

If midterms are coming up, you are in trouble.

Find the answers using your search engine - that's what it's for.

This site isn't really here to do your homework assignments for you. All these are easy to look up on the internet and you are more likely to remember the answers if you do the work yourself.

Its good to see that some things do not change, someone has left their assignment till the very last minute, lol.

I agree, Steragram! I used to write extensive rants on that very subject. Then a savvy member reminded me that, in developing countries, internet access is often easier to find than textbooks, and search engines are only as good as your grasp of the keywords. So, now I try to give the searcher some signposts for the information maze...er...I mean "superhighway". :)

Thats kind Tug. ....its the lazy ones in thiscountry I despair of,

it seems at universitys here "cut and paste" has been superceded by students paying for others to do their work...whats the point!

These days they do not seek the universities that, as they currently put it, are places " where fun comes to die" or are known as " the level of hell that Dante forgot". They now seek the " plug and play" ones. I get the impression that many students today are not serious about themselves any more. The undergraduate university I attended had and still does a student to teacher ratio of 5:1 which meant nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Irregardless I would bet my bottom dollar on a student who attended an institution with a ratio of 100:1 if I knew that person walked into class with a serious attitude towards themselves and their education.

Think you 'll find that has been going on for generations Pam, they are not all cast in the same mould, I know many work hard at what they are studying, I can remember being told that if you really want to learn do not be afraid of asking the questions, often one only has to be led in the right direction to find the answer...

Plus ca change.......
When I went to Uni we had Lectures on a Saturday morning and a Wednesday evening too. Try doing that now!
The reports suggest that more and more students are being caught plagiarising work. When I did my thesis the only info I could get was in Libraries, the Local Council Records office and Micro-fich things of Newspapers. Took hours of work too. Don't blame people for trying to make things easier. I came out with no debt, but my daughters are still paying off their 'loans'.

You have reminded me Owdboggy, how did I do it? It took so much time in getting and copying the reference material in the library in the days before xerox. I remember I went three days without sleep in order to have enough time to get things done.. I really was hallucinating at the end of the third sleepless night...didnt have to do anything else to get that head show. My fingers still have callouses on them from where I held a pencil or pen though now I am developing a nice callous on the tip of my index finger from tapping on my iPad:)

All very true but things you research yourself are more likely to be remembered. All you have to do is to type in eg frog scientific name. It less than 20 seconds for each one.. Its not as though it is a difficult or challenging question.

Copying down the results of someone else's search gives you no benefit at all in the long term, and long term benefit is what education is all about. Its tough love not rattiness.

When I went to university, you could always tell the difference between the ones who went to college because "my parents said I had to", those who went "to make more money", and those who went to actually have a better life. If the first survived, academically, they either joined the other two groups (rare) or got rally good at faking it. The second stood about a 50% chance of actually trying to learn how to understand what they were supposed to do later, while the remainder faked it--scary how many kept their new careers for decades after graduation! I noticed that the majority of the third group spent some time in the real working world before registering.

Your right Tug. I was drafted and saw combat in the Korean war. Yes spending some time in the world gets one really ready for college in many ways attitude wise. Though, come to think of it and sad to say with what I went though I could have gone in the opposite direction too.

It happens too often, Loosestrife. I understand PTSD too well, but so many people have already proven that choice is still possible. Often a long row to hoe, though. :/

You two make me count my blessings....

Back then Tug they called PTSD battlefield fatigue.

5 Jan, 2016

Yep. And before that, shell shock. To summarize a comedian I heard once, first we were shocked, then we were tired, and now we are stressed. :]
Boy have we gone off on a tangent! I hope Priyanshu forgives us!
Priyanshu, if you are still looking, and you can't find the names otherwise, I will be happy to help you. Just ask in the comment box below, or send me a private message.

Forgive us? That question was probably a direct quote from one of his exams:)

Have you noticed that people who ask exam questions hardly ever come back to acknowledge replies?

6 Jan, 2016

Thats very true Stera do you think we scare them off or make them feel guilty ?

6 Jan, 2016

Or how many other sites do they hit with the same question? Though I must say a while ago I answered one of these academic questions(or seemingly) a while ago and I received a very nice reply and thank you returned as a PM.

Exam question? Hmph....I don't think much of his instructor, if that's an exam question! It shows no understanding of the subject that he or she is supposed to teach.

How do I say thanks?
