It looks very much like Golden Rod to me, if it is , it has tiny yellow like flowers all the way down it...but don't take my word for it, just trying to help Buzby...

it could also be one of the willow herbs.that has pink or white flowers.
i can see the golden rod too. Did it flower for you last year? if so what were they like?

This is our first full summer in this garden so can't say what happened last year, I guess I will have to wait until it flowers.

Some kinds of Asters have foliage like that. too--also probably a fall bloomer.
