Depends whether you want permanent planting, or just to ring the changes with summer bedding followed by winter bedding plants. For permanent planting of, say, shrubs, you'd need larger pots and, in a sunny hot spot like a deck, lots of watering. Need to know what you've got in mind, or you'll get a list as long as your arm...
