blotches on pear tree

my Dad has a pear tree which has on it's very green leaves an orange blob with yellowy edges and a black spot in the middle. He's taken off such leaves but is wondering what it actually is. Thanks

Hi Samantha ....It is made by a small fly that leaves tiny maggots in these patches. No real harm to a pear tree. Just picking off the affected leaves is fine, and burning them or stamping on them to squash the maggots. I had them last year and the year before but not,so far ,this year. the pears are doing well this year.
