growing asters from seed but the leaves are getting black and crinkly can you help?

Some of the leaves on my seed grown asters were dark and crinkly so I just picked them off. True there were not that many. I hate using sprays but earlier they developed black fly so I sprayed them and now they are fine. I love all the aster family and looking forward to a good display.
