Bit of a long shot this one. I would like a rose bush `Wendy Cussons`. Any suggestions as to where I might get one. Sorry its been so long, my computer died, and I decided not to replace as I am not too good - too long in the tooth to get them really. but have decided to try again.

Google 'Rose Wendy Cussons' - Peter Beales are selling it, along with Tranquillity Cottage Nursery (www.tranquillity-cottage-nursery.co.uk), where its much cheaper at £6.99 (around £17 from Beales).

Beales (classicroses.co.uk) maybe expensive but their roses are brilliant quality. If you fancy a day out, they're over the border from you in Attleborough, Norfolk.
Also try www.britishroses.co.uk

Beales at attleborough is stunning. I bought 5 roses from them and they are all doing brilliantly. yes expensive but such good quality. they also sell herbaceous plants too, so hide the purse when you go :o)

If you get one, you'll need to keep an eye on it for disease as it's not very resistant.
Give it the best growing conditions you can - especially give it lots of air (don't plant it near to a wall or fence as it will get mildew!)
Could be worth preventative treatment with Roseclear.

Thanks for that Urbanite, I know I could get one more resistant etc, but this particular one has sentimental memories. I have ordered one from Tranquillity so keeping fingers cross it will arrive soon, they say it has been dispatched.

Good luck with it - I'm a fan of the older roses (can't be doing with these David Austin breeds that are filling the country)

Arrived today and planted. Keep fingers crossed for me. A friend has told me to use corn maize. Don't know why is it any good and what does it do?

If I go go to war on greenfly I use a mixture of vegetable oil and soap - I don't know of any specific use for "corn maize" (corn and maize are really just different names for the same thing, depending on where you live and/or how old you are) and it would be interesting to know what your friend means.
