hi my magnolia shrub is looking bit worse for wear is it ok to give it regular plant food or tomatoe food or is there something better i could try ? thanks alison

If you have had the heatwave and drought it is not surprising. Better to water it well to start with and mulch with ericaceous compost.

I agree with Moongrower, also you could give your magnolia a feed of maxicrop liquid seaweed and epsom salts will help. Also take care if your tap water is hard, rain water (if any) would be better.

If you haven't got any rain water and are in a hard water area then fill a bucket with water from the tap and leave it to sit outside for 24 hours this will allow the chlorine to evaporate.
