Planted two lupins last year side by side both flowered this year the lilac flowered the yellow didn't, Why?

I wouldn't give up on the yellow one yet, Guest, there's still time for it to flower this year. I asked the same question a few weeks ago, after planting 3 at the same time. 2 flowered (and seeded) but 1 didn't. I thought that was it, but now there's lots of new heads on the 2 and the one that I thought wasn't going to flower this year now has one new little head peeking out! :o) So like I said, it might flower yet....
