Hi
I have 4 plants that have know grown over 6ft, They are heavily thorned on the stem and leaf, ladybirds love them they seem to find protection. I have know idea where they have come from. I hope you can help me Patricia

These are Common Teasels (Dipsacus fullonum) the seeds of which are much beloved by birds, particularly Goldfinches, who spread them around all over the place - which is how they would have arrived in your garden!
