Hi - I was given some seeds, and told they were black tomaotes - they look a bit odd, there is a fruit growing inside a thin papery lantern type housing. The plants are quite tall (about 5 ft). Please see the attached photo.

Hi Manda,
Although Physalis aren't tomatoes they are actually very close relatives in the Nightshade family, and are edible too.
