I was going to plant Virginia creeper but have read it is it
Has toxic berries that are unsafe with dogs aound .,As we have a dog what is safe evergreen and fairly fast growing.W e need to cover a large trellis

I say "pinch of salt" not because it's not good advice but some plants have different properties depending on the conditions in which they are grown (hemp is the obvious one). They have garlic and onions labelled as "special concern for dogs" but my old dog used to love both and they didn't do her any harm (lived nearly 20 years)

Sun or shade? Note that virginia creeper is not evergreen anyway. If its in a sunny spot, Trachelospermum jasminoides is good.
