It is a Hypericum of some sort.

Its a Tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum) and is actually a native species too.

And the blighters seem to be growing in every pot in my yard!

Yes, thrushes eat the fruits and of course.........nature takes it's course. Actually an attractive plant I think and it has the same properties as the herb St John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum).
