I don't even cover mine for the winter. If it's a Brown Turkey, then it's hardy.

Fig trees are light feeders. My grandfather had two of them and they bore figs heavily each year and he never did anything to them except cover them for the winter. I think that it is the amount of sun that they get every day is more important when it comes to fig yield.
