Sorry, but yet another"what is this?"...I keep discovering plants I've never seen before since moving from the north to the south! They are sort of fluffy flowers!

Oh dear, I'm always buying nuisance plants, my first and worst was a Russian vine which ended up wrapped around my neighbour's plants while we were away. She wasn't best pleased.

They are beautiful small trees with exotic foliage, nice fluffy flowers and stunning autumn colour.....but they do sucker a lot. Mine are a complete pain as the suckers come up everywhere.

I'm not quite sure what suckers look like!

"I'm not quite sure what suckers look like!" - me when I see some nice plants or bulbs!
Suckers are shoots that rise from the roots and form new plants. In this case they can spread far and wide and become a nuisance. They are quite common in the 'north' as well as south.

haha! I see, you mean like the plantlets that come out of a strawberry plant ?

Almost exactly like that, Mazzie, except that these come from the underground roots and are real thugs to deal with.
