I have a white grub eating the roots of my vegetables. How can i get rid of this in the soil.

Could it be vine weevil larvae? I'm not sure how to get rid of it though. I've only had it in pots and I throw the compost away and scour the pot out thoroughly before reusing it. Vine weevils themselves are like black beetle things - if you google you'll find images I would imagine.
