My Clematis 'Comtesse de Bouchaud' is prone to lack of magnesium but I find Epsom salts corrects that but today I noticed this flower has green petals. What causes this?
many thanks Denise.

Reminds me of currant blister mite. Have you looked on the back of the petals for tiny mites?
