I have grown several bay trees from cuttings and have 2 superb six-footers, but I have never had any seeds/berries on any of them. Why not ? My local garden centre told me to feed them with tomorite and I'll get seeds but that was 2 years ago and still none.

It may be that you have male plants - they do not produce berries, only the females do.
