what type of compost should i repot my cornish plarm plant in

If you mean a Cordyline then I would choose a multi purpose with a little loam added (John Innes). Westland make one that should do fine. These types of compost are better for longer term plantings such as for the majority of shrubby plants (excluding Ericaceous plants).

If it is a Lady Palm. then you will definitely have to keep it indoors during the winter. It prefers a position out of full sun outside (in summer) and thesame for inside.
