I have a 5 in 1 apple tree. It has a snow white fluffy fungus growing on the bark. I wiped it off with my fingers. What is it and what do I need to do to get rid of it.

sounds like mealy bug/scale insects. if its a small tree keep wiping with alcohol wipes.
typical insecticides don't penetrate the waxy layer on the insect.
